Tattoos today have been generally accepted as a form of art unlike the early 80s/90s where wearing of tattoos were often referred to as devlish acts. We can say wearing of tattoos today gradually gained it’s acceptance as a unique form of art display into the society through entertainment, and “rap music” which was also also referred to as Devlish music played a vital role in making this happen.

However in the modern world today, a number of christians still have their faith in the believe that having ink printed on one’s skin is an act of sin in relation to the Bible verse  (leviticus 19:28) You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you, I am the Lord. (KJV)
If we however take our time to study the whole chapter 19 of leviticus we will learn the truth that the laws in that scripture were made so as to stop the isrealites from praticing such rituals, back then wearing of tattoos wasn’t done as forms of art, but rather rituals to appease the dead, The Good News bible interpretes this verse saying
I forbid you to cut and tattoo yourself as a way of worshipping the dead

Most christians ‘key’ into this particular verse due to their personal hatred for the use of tattoos, ruleing out other chapters like..
Lev 19:19– Do not sow two kinds of seed in one field..
Lev 19:19– Do not wear cloths made from different mattrials (woolen n linen)
Lev 19:27- Do not cut the edges of  your beard or head
Lev 19:35- Be honest with your measuring scales in weight n metres.

Why should one see 19:28 as a sin and not 19:19, 19:27, 19:25?
On this note having a tattoo should not be a cause for criticism if it was done as a form of art, but on the other hand, it sure is a sin if it was done as an act of ritualism.

The simple truth is, the bible makes it very clear in the book of Leviticus chapter 18 verses 1 through 3 that the laws in Chapter 19 were given as guardiance to help the isrealites leave their egypt way of life and adapt to a MORE-GODLY way of life
